New Delhi, Dec 03 (KNO): The Union Railways Ministry Wednesday said that the Kanpur–Jammu Tawi Express currently does not stop at Mallawan station and any future halt will be decided based on operational needs.
Accordint to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), responding to a question, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said Mallawan station is presently served by four train services that offers connectivity to Kanpur, Unnao and Sitapur cities.
Vaishnaw said the Kanpur–Jammu Tawi Express already has a scheduled stoppage at Balamau that is close to the location of Mallawan.
About the proposal of stoppage at Mallawan, the minister said that the stoppages of train services are considered based on traffic justification, operational feasibility and the availability of additional time on the section.
He added that infrastructure requirements, including platform length also needs to be taken into account before introducing a new halt.
The minister did not specify any timeline for introducing the stoppage—(KNO)
